MICHELE HENDERSON (2000)
Michele's self-titled CD is her first release.
According to Da Vibe "Songs from the Soul would have
been an apt title for this CD, because it is a revelation
into the woman that is." The songs yearn for an audience
and you can't help but give in and listen. The rhythms call
out to you, pulling you in, visibly evoking feelings and
emotions. The lyrics cut to the core and are poignant, flowing
and tender.
Michele has traversed the great divide
that some Caribbean artists fall into when trying to go
mainstream. The mastery of this album is that you don't
think of it as mainstream. It's just plain good music
that makes you feel, and once that happens, you're hooked.
Michele's third album, Sound Check was awarded
Album of the Year for 2002 by the Foundation for
Artists Musicians and Entertainers (FAME), a foundation
established in Dominica.
Further, "Sing for Africa"
(Track 4) won Song of the Year, and Track 7 "Pas
Lesse Mwen" reached Number 1 on the Top
40 Zouk Charts on 3 radio stations in Martinique,
for 3 weeks in a row.

Henderson Releases 2004 Album
Dominica Songstress Michele Henderson officially
released her fourth album entitled Mwen Inmé'w
at a Press Conference at the Jazz Walk Club in Roseau on
October 18, 2004. This album is a collection of eleven works
done over the last year.
The listener is treated to a creative and
pleasing fusion of Creole styles and rhythms, jazz, R&B,
and Hip-Hop on this project. Mwen Inme'w boasts
a tribute to one of Dominica's well-known artists, Gordon
Henderson of Exile One, appropriately titled Hommage
(Track 6). Hommage is
a medley of two of Gordon's popular compositions and is
the only cover version on the album; all other songs on
the album were written by Michele with one other exception,
Chante Ansamn (Track 8) co-written by Jean Luc Guanel.
Mwen Inme'w also features former WCK front
man Skinny Banton collaborating on Track 10 Bring it
On.
Sa Kai is Michele Henderson's sixth album, released in October 2008.
In this album Michele pays tribute to her creole roots and also explores some new music. She created this album with the help of talented arrangers such as Donovan Gabriel, Phillip Joseph (formerly of Kassav), and Jacques Camera (Taino Records, Guadeloupe). In addition, fellow-Dominican artist "Lloydie" is featured on two of the tracks.
Michele is not only a fantastic singer, but she is a composer herself, having written ten of the twelve songs on "Sa Kai."
Sa Kai was released just prior to Dominica's 30th Anniversary. It contains the Official Reunion 2008 Song "Celebrating the Journey Together" (Track 12 ) - a very popular song that also features Tarina Simon and Dice.
