Dominicans listen to all sorts of music, so don't be surprised if you hear Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin or Jennifer Lopez around the offices or at home. R&B and hiphop is another favourite type of music.
Groups like Eminem, Destiny's Child,TLC and IMX are very popular.

We do have our own brand of music created by our local artists:

Everywhere you go, Dominica's French history is evident. No surprise then that the the music it creates is equally influenced by this heritage.

At Independence (early November) Dominica showcases its cultural heritage. Brightly dressed women wear
Madras and Tete Case headwear and dance Quadrille, Jing-ping (RealAudio clip,15 secs.), Heel-and-toe, Bélé and Waltz to the sound of the boom-boom, shak-shak and accordian. There is also the World Creole Music Festival which takes place for three successive nights and features musical artists from all over the world.
