Once again children from schools across the island made their way to the south to learn about the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve. SSMR Day is an annual event sponsored by Fisheries and the Soufriere/Scotts Head Village Council.

Underwater Treasure Hunt at Castaways

This year, Dive Fest's Underwater activities kicked off with Treasure Hunt at Castaways Beach Hotel in Mero. Certified Scuba divers took part in this fun event - searching the bottom of the sea for precious painted stones, collecting as many as possible to win a prize. Dive Watches, Cases of Carib Beer and a Snorkeling Gear were among the many prizes won by participants.

Discover Scuba

Dive Fest 2002
The venue for Discover Scuba this year was The Anchorage Hotel in Castle Comfort.

Participants first watched a video to learn the basic principles of Scuba and then donned their gear and went into the pool with Dive Instructors to practice the essential skills.

	Discover Diving Those who found the sport enticing signed up for a scuba dive in the sea to experience Dominica's underwater beauty.
	As usual, kids were a big part of Dive Fest this year. Kids ages 8 and up tried scuba to see how they liked it!
