Following the swearing in ceremony, the 58-year-old Prime Minister was greeted by many supporters, well wishers and journalists Mr. Douglas told the persons gathered that the country had arrived at a major milestone and hoped that the transition from UWP to his government would be a smooth one. Prime Minister Douglas noted that the Dominica Labour Party will do everything to ensure that the government is fair, and as visionary as possible to tackle the many problems that the country faces.

Mr. Douglas stated that Government would be a government for all with no discrimination. According to him, "this government will be under rule of and God's law and will be open to welcome everyone."

Mr. Douglas noted that although he had not met the outgoing Prime Minister, he was willing to continue the work the UWP has started, once the projects were economically viable.
