You Made a Difference!
Update May, 2003: Thank you to all those who contributed to the Ricky Barry Fund. Ricky's operation was a success. Thanks to the generous support of many of you, Ricky is now running around and doing really well.
Update January 13th: Ricky had his operation and was recovering. He is expected to be out of Intensive Care in about one week. A big "Thank You" to all of you who made donations to help make this possible. We will continue to accept donations to "The Children's Heart Fund" for other children who need similar operations.
Ricky Barry is two years old. He lives in Salisbury, Dominica where his father is a gardener and has few resources. Ricky has a congenital heart problem called "Patent Ductus Arteriosus." The good news is that it is correctable by surgery, but the surgery will cost US$4,500. We are hoping to reach out to those who can help - to find it in their hearts to make a difference this Christmas - and to help Ricky get the surgery he needs. For years, pediatrician Dr. Rhonda McIntyre has continually raised funds for children with heart problems. "The Children's Heart Fund" account has been established at the National Commercial Bank of Dominica.
