As we boarded our plane to return home to Massachusetts we were already dreaming of our return trip. Dominica is a small island but there is so much to see and do! Each day was filled with natural beauty and adventure. The best part of the day was returning "home" at night to Cocoa cottages. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious, and the interesting friends we met there made it seem like a living paradise. Iris, Charm and Jeffery were so wonderful I will think of them often and miss them also! There is not one thing I would have changed about my visit to Dominica except I wish I could have stayed longer. If you love nature as God created it Dominica is your paradise!

We have just returned from a two week holiday in Dominica, and quite frankly it was not long enough, even though we saw six waterfalls, we completed seven dives, went to the Boiling lake and whale watching, swam in several rivers and snorkelled over a bubbling reef, visited the Carrib territory and drove completely round the island. Laid in natural hot springs. We came away feeling that there was so much more we could have seen, and done! The forests and waterfalls were spectacular, and most of the time we had them all to ourselves. The diving was unspoilt and not crowded. This was due to the highly professional, courteous and friendly personnel at Dive Dominica, a company I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe and reliable dive operator. The hikes were strenuous and rewarding with our guide Jeffery Charles who kept us safe and was extremely knowledgeable on the local forest plants and animals. All the above was only made possible due to the excellent contacts arranged for us by our host Iris at Cocoa Cottages. Both her and her daughter Charm made our stay one to remember. We original only booked one week but due to the fact that we felt so comfortable at Cocoa Cottages we stayed a second week. The cottages central position on the island and its close proximity to Roseau the capital made it a perfect location. Right in the middle of the Rain Forest with Trafalgar Falls only a walk away, each evening and morning we were woken and serenaded to sleep by the sounds of the forest And with Iris?s help it made a perfect base to plan the days activities exploring the island. The food throughout was excellent a wide choice of organic fruit and veg which is the norm on Dominica. A stay with Iris at Cocoa Cottages is like staying at Paradise in Paradise. Two top recommendations a swim through Titou Gorge, very refreshing after the hike to Boiling Lake. And a visit to Henry?s where you can eat organic food traditionally prepared, whilst sipping local rum, whilst watching a sunset while sitting in a bath being massaged by hot water directly from a natural sulphur spring. WOW Yet the best this was not the spectacular waterfalls the wonderful sunsets, the delicious food, the excellent diving nor the exhilarating hikes it wasn?t even the whale and dolphins nor the sound of the Rainforest it was the Dominican people themselves. I have never met such friendly gracious people always willing to help make our stay perfect. Thank you Iris & Charm ? Steve & Jan

On my recent visit to the paradise island of Dominica, I stay a few nights at cocoa cottage and the decision I made resulted in what I would call, a vacation of a life time. Although the time was short, it was filled with wonderful adventures. The hospitality was superb and the food, the food was absolutely delicious, every meal sumptuously prepared …I checked my diet at the door and ate heartily, thoroughly enjoying all the flavors of island cuisine so well prepared by Iris, the gracious hostess and owner. Cocoa cottage offers the traveler a very unique experience as it is nestled harmoniously in the hills of Trafalgar village. I enjoyed the hike to Trafalgar Falls where I experienced the gentle soothing warm water from one section and the power of raging cold water from another section. I swam in the gorge at Ti-tou Gorge and also followed the meandering trail all the way to Middleham Falls, where I relaxed in a cold water pool listening to the power of the cascading falls very close by. Another day of adventure found me swimming in Fresh Water Lake in heavy rain. I was intrepid in my search for adventure that day, daring the so-called one-eye monster to reveal himself and take on my challenge. Even after swimming all the way across the lake looking for a confrontation, and then back again, the monster may have seen my bravery and had second thoughts. In addition, I was able to relax for hours in the bathtubs at the tikwenglocho, totally awesome…50 steps down to the hot water tubs and you’re there in private seclusion, one with your natural surroundings. Relay fondest regards to Henry when you go there. It is my intention to return some day to continue my exploration, but until I do, I will treasure the memories I have of this beautiful place. Thank you so very much “Fred”

From our bed, we look out the balcony down a valley of dense tropical vegetation, sometimes filled with sun, sometimes rain, sometimes both. After cocoa-tea, the end of the driveway leads to soak in sulfur springs or adventurous hikes over rivers to waterfalls with pools for swimming . It often feels like Paradise ought to be.
