Harken, a young ex Florida Prosecutor goes to the Eastern
Caribbean island of Dominica BWI with his side kick, Colonel
Ralph Rankin, to temporarily run Island House, the small

gets shot and loses her in a local coup d'é·tat
attempt and then meets and romances an expatriate British
girl, Liene Starling, who is returning from New York to
the island to live. At this time an American shipping magnate,
Alfred Bruner of Bruner Lines, works out a clever scheme
to literally take over the island country. During this time
Liene is sought out and pursued by Jason Dans, an ex-employer
from New York who, believing Liene will likely alert the
authorities to his illegal activities, comes to the island
with a hired assassin to kill her, which ultimately involves

ISBN: 0060837578 |
| This
compelling first novel traces the fortunes of three generations
of women from the small Caribbean Island of Dominica. Matilda,
descended from African slaves, was a famous healer and possible
murderer. The story of her hanging was handed down in songs.
Her daughter, Iris, was famous as the jilted lover of a
rich man and the victim of a horrific rape. Her subsequent
insanity and death also became legendary. Iris' daughter,
Lillian, was raised by her devoutly Catholic stepmother.
Until the age of 15 she remains unaware that the infamous
women of song are her legacy. Now living in Washington,
D.C., the fragile, adult Lillian returns to Dominica to
try to unravel the history of her family. The richly told
narrative alternates between time periods, building suspense
and compassion for all of the characters...

'Martinique'
Overview
"The earliest inhabitants called it the island of flowers
and Christopher Columbus was so awed by it that he wrote "it
is the best, most fertile, the softest... the most charming
place in the world." You'll understand these accolades
when you see Martinique for the first time. The volcanic mass
is covered in luxuriant greenery, outlined in soft sand and
sprinkled with colorful blooms."

'Rain
On A Tin Roof' is a sparkling collection of Caribbean short
stories which present sharp, vivid portraits of life on the
island of Dominica. From the extremely funny to the thoughtfully
serious, this passionate work takes the reader on a fascinating
tour of recent events in Caribbean history, while providing
a rich texture of the culture and romance of the renown Nature
Island of the Caribbean. In the words of noted Caribbean author
Irving W. Andre, Christian's style of short story writing
brings forth: "...an evocation of landscape and visual
imagery, along with a powerful appeal to the senses which
virtually transport the reader to the event he is describing.
This effort represents a fresh new voice in modern Caribbean
literature".

A
Passage To Anywhere is a fictional account of a young man's
passage from adolescence to adulthood in a small Caribbean
Island. He is beset by the stoicism of his father, the limited
opportunities in the island and by the conflicts which almost
destroy it. He is also torn between a desire to remain on
the island and a compulsion to migrate in search of greater
opportunities. He ultimately chooses the latter, but never
quite frees himself from the ties which bind him to the island.
